Building In Public

The Skyflow Journey

Skyflow started as a weekend project by Devarno to answer a simple question:

"Who's actually engaging with my content on Bluesky?"

What began as a personal exploration has grown through constant iteration and feedback.

Core Principles

Skyflow was built on a range of fundamental underlying principles, including (but not limited to):

PrincipleValue
ImpactBeyond just likes and follower counts, Skyflow analyzes patterns that reveal true influence and impact.
TransparencySkyflow metrics are clearly explained, with detailed breakdowns of value added and how scores are calculated.
AccessibilityCore Skyflow features are available to everyone without cost or complex setup.
PrivacySkyflow respects your data and privacy, only analyzing the public information you choose to share.
CommunitySkyflow evolves based on community feedback and needs, not predefined assumptions.

Learning In Public

Building Skyflow has been a constant learning process:

  • Users don't care about fancy metrics → They want clear answers to specific questions about their Bluesky presence.
  • Time zones matter more than expected → The global nature of Bluesky means engagement peaks vary dramatically based on who you follow.
  • Mutual connections drive engagement → Two-way relationships consistently generate more meaningful interaction than one-way follows.
  • Documentation is a feature → Clear explanations can be more valuable than additional functionality.

Built for Bluesky

Every significant improvement to Skyflow has come from user suggestions or observed patterns:

  • The time-based Flow visualization came from users wanting to understand when to post.
  • The unique-author approach to Clout rankings was suggested by users who saw single accounts dominating results.
  • The Pulse metrics were completely reworked based on feedback about what actually matters to users.

Join the Conversation

Skyflow grows through open dialogue with its users. Share your experiences, suggest improvements, or report issues:

  • Follow Skyflow updates on Bluesky and join discussions on new features by replying to update posts.
  • Follow Devarno for behind-the-scenes development updates and marketing insights.
  • Unlock your Flow and share your thoughts.

Your input shapes what Skyflow becomes.
