Getting Started with Skyflow

Before you dive into analyzing your Bluesky network, here's what you'll need to begin using Skyflow:

Requirements

  1. Bluesky Account - You must have an active Bluesky account that is following at least 50 accounts.
  2. App Password - You'll need a valid Bluesky App Password (not your main login password).
  3. Login Credentials - Your Bluesky handle and App Password, which are only used for API access.

Skyflow does not require any sign-up, and your credentials are only used to access your timeline data (read about Flow privacy).

Creating an App Password

Security Tip: App Passwords are unique, application-specific passwords that allow Skyflow to access your Bluesky account securely without using your main password.

To create an App Password:

  1. Go to your Bluesky settings.
  2. Navigate to your Privacy and Security settings.
  3. Navigate to the App Passwords section.
  4. Click + Add App Password.
  5. Give it a name (e.g. skyflow).
  6. Copy the generated password and store it somewhere safe.

This approach is much more secure than sharing your main Bluesky password, as you can revoke access at any time without changing your main login.

First Login

With your App Password ready:

  1. Visit the Flow Portal.
  2. Enter your Bluesky handle and App Password.
  3. Click Connect with App Password to generate your first Flow.

What's Next?

After your first login, Skyflow will analyze your network and generate your initial metrics. This might take a minute or two, depending on the size of your network.

Once complete, you'll have access to all Skyflow features, including:

  • Flow - Timeline activity patterns.
  • Clout - Top performing content.
  • Kudos - Influential accounts in your network.
  • Pulse - Overall performance metrics.

The Features section provides detailed guidance on each feature and how to make the most of Skyflow's capabilities.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues during login:

  • Make sure you're using a valid App Password, not your main Bluesky password.
  • Verify you're following at least 50 accounts on Bluesky.
  • Check your internet connection and try again.
  • If problems persist, please reach out on Bluesky or via hello@skyflow.me.
